It lists the prerequisite courses and Math Placement Assessment (MPA) scores needed to take the class; if the course fulfills the Quantitative and Symbolic Reasoning (QSR) General University Requirement (GUR) partially, completely or not at all; a brief catalog description; and if the course provides a prerequisite for another WWU Math course.
Common Math Courses at Western
- Description: Gain skills working with algebraic expressions and equations in order to prepare for Math 107, 108, 111 or 112.
- Credits: 5 credits for financial aid purposes
- Prerequisite to take this class: MPA score of 1 or higher
- Quantitative and Symbolic reasoning fulfillment: Does not fulfill any portion of the QSR
- Prerequisite for: Math 107, 108, 111 or 112
- Description: Reading quantitative information, reasoning, personal finance, data display and summary, assessing risk; quantitative decisions.
- Credits: 4
- Prerequisite to take class: Math 099, MPA score of 25 or higher, suitable Advanced Placement Precalculus test score, or college Intermediate Algebra
- Quantitative and Symbolic reasoning fulfillment: Partially fulfills QSR
- Prerequisite for: Math 107 does not serve as a prerequisite for any further math courses
- Description: Assessing quantitative information; dimensional analysis and proportional reasoning; simple mathematical models; graphical representations; geometry; voting.

- Prerequisite to take class: Math 099, MPA score of 25 or higher, suitable Advanced Placement Precalculus test score, or college Intermediate Algebra
- Quantitative and Symbolic reasoning fulfillment: Partially fulfills QSR
- Prerequisite for: Math 108 does not serve as a prerequisite for any further math courses
- Description: Support for success in Math 112, with a focus on algebraic concepts, skills and reasoning, and using external resources. Intended for students with a Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, or Business interest.

- Prerequisite to take class: MPA score of 30-34 and Co-requisite Math 112
- Quantitative and Symbolic reasoning fulfillment: Does not fulfill any portion of the QSR
- Prerequisite for: Math 109 is not a prerequisite for any courses. It supports successful completion of Math 112.
- Description: For preservice elementary teachers; algebraic problem solving and modeling; linear, quadratic and exponential functions and inequalities.

- Prerequisite to take class: Math 099, MPA score of 30 or higher, suitable Advanced Placement Precalculus test score, or college Intermediate Algebra

- Prerequisite for: Math 371, 381 This course must be passed with a C or higher to serve as a prerequisite. Math 111 does not serve as a prerequisite for math courses other than 371 or 381.
- Description: Pattern recognition and generalization, building mathematical models & problem solving are emphasized.

- Description: Average and instantaneous rates of change, interpretation, computation and application of derivatives to optimization, rates, graphing & antiderivative problems.

- Prerequisite to take class: Math 115, Math 118, MPA score of 80 or higher, final college course in precalculus with C-plus or better, or suitable Advanced Placement Precalculus or Advanced Placement Calculus test score

- Prerequisite for: Math 125 This course must be passed with a C–minus or higher to serve as a prerequisite. May be used as a substitute for Math 157.
- Description: The definite integral, techniques of integration, applications including area and volume, growth and decay, introduction to differential equations.

- Prerequisite to take class: Math 124, Math 134, or suitable Advanced Placement Calculus test score

- Prerequisite for: Math 204, 224, 226, 302, 341, and 360. This course must be passed with a C-minus or higher to serve as a prerequisite.
- Description: A study of selected topics in single variable calculus from a deeper conceptual perspective, for students already familiar with its computational aspects.

- Prerequisite to take class: Suitable Advanced Placement Calculus test score
- Quantitative and Symbolic reasoning fulfillment: QSR previously fulfilled
- Prerequisite for: Math 204, 224, 226, 302, 341, and360. This course must be passed with a C-minus or higher to serve as a prerequisite.
- Description: Equations and inequalities, graphs and functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, business applications.
- Credits: 4
- Prerequisite to take class: Math 112, MPA score of 55 or higher, or suitable Advanced Placement Precalculus test score, or College Algebra course with at least a C-minus

- Prerequisite for: Math 157 This course must be passed with a C–minus or higher to serve as a prerequisite.
- Description: Limits, rates of change, partial differentiation, graphs and optimization, integration, business applications. May not be used as a substitute for Math 124. Math 124 or Advanced Placement Calculus test score of 3, 4 or 5 fulfills Math 157.
